Who we are

Roq ("the app") is published by TAFROLOGYA LTD. Contact: support@tafrologya.com.

Accounts

When you open Roq we create an anonymous account so your ratings and online games can be saved. You can later link Sign in with Apple or Google to keep your progress on another device. We store a display name you choose, your language, your country (if you set it) and your ratings.

chess.com and lichess usernames

If you link a chess.com or lichess username, the app downloads that account's public games directly from those sites to your phone. The username is stored on your device and, if you enable notifications, in your Roq account. We never ask for your chess.com or lichess password.

Notifications about your games

If you turn on notifications, our servers check the public game list of your linked chess.com or lichess account every few minutes and send you a notification about new games, such as the moment that decided one. For this we store your notification token, your notification choices (which notifications, quiet hours, the hour of a daily summary), your device's time zone offset, and the time and results of your recent games. You can change or turn this off in Settings → Notifications.

Game data and analysis

The chess engine (Stockfish) runs on your phone. To classify moves, review games, read your games for the coach and run fair-play scans, the app sends the positions, moves and engine evaluations of those games to our servers, which return the results; the coach's latest report and your previous skill scores are kept in your Roq account. Imported games and their reviews are stored on your device. Online games played in Roq (moves, clocks, results and rating changes) are stored on our servers so they can be refereed, rated and shown in your history.

Reports and fair play

If you report a player, we store the report (who reported, the game and the reason). We may check a reported player's games in Roq with our fair-play tools and, if we find unfair play, restrict their account and restore the rating points their opponents lost.

Opponents in online play

When no other player is available for your rating and time control, you may be matched with a computer-controlled opponent (a "practice partner") that plays like a human player and is shown with a player profile. Games against practice partners are rated in the same way. Fair-play scans give statistical signals only and are not an accusation against any player.

Analytics and crash reports

We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand which features are used, and Firebase Crashlytics to fix crashes. These collect device and usage information and a pseudonymous identifier. Firebase App Check protects our servers from abuse.

Purchases

Subscriptions are processed by Apple or Google and managed through RevenueCat, which receives an anonymous app user ID and purchase receipts. We never see your card details.

No ads

Roq shows no ads and does not track you across other apps or websites.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the service providers above (Google Firebase and RevenueCat), who process it for us, or when the law requires.

Retention and deletion

You can delete your account at any time in Me → Delete account. This removes your profile, ratings, online game history, coach report, notification settings and any pending matches from our servers. Data on your phone is removed when you delete the app. You can also email us to request deletion or a copy of your data.

Children

Roq is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

We will update this page when the policy changes and show the date above.
